Why people call us

Three problems.
One company
built to solve them.

Throughout the Flathead Valley and along every lake in Northwest Montana, the same three problems come up again and again. We’ve spent years building a process – and investing in equipment nobody else in the valley has – to solve each one better than anyone here.

01 — Structural failure

Your deck is falling apart

Wood that wasn’t maintained. Boards rotting, cupping, pulling away from the frame. A structure that feels unsafe and looks worse every summer. You’ve been putting it off – we’ll come out, tell you exactly what it needs, and give you a straight answer on what it’ll take to fix it right, once and for all.

02 — Obstructed views

Your railing is blocking the view

You have one of the most beautiful views in Montana and you’re looking through an aging railing that’s rattling, rotting, and in the way. Your railing should disappear into the landscape. We build railings that open your view back up – and stay out of it.

03 — Limited space

You need more outdoor living space

On a sloped lakefront or mountain property, a deck isn’t optional – it’s often the only usable outdoor space you have. We design multi-level spaces that work with your property’s grade and make the most of every square foot you own.
What separates us

This is not how other deck builders work.

Every advantage we have was built in direct response to a real problem we kept running into – long lead times on railings, decks that failed in five years, materials that showed up looking nothing like what was promised. We solved each one. Now they’re standard in everything we build.

The only laser welder in Flathead Valley

Most builders outsource their railings to a welding shop. That means months of lead time, no quality control, and a product that wasn't built for your deck. We fabricate everything in our own shop using a 2,000W laser welder. The laser focuses to an extremely fine point and punches all the way through the metal - a full-penetration weld, not a surface bead. It's three to four times faster than MIG or TIG, and the joint is stronger and nearly invisible. Zero subcontractors. We control every inch.

Wood planed & finished before it leaves our shop

We plane every board to a true inch-and-a-half by five-and-a-half, edge-finish it, and pre-stain three sides in our shop before anything goes on a truck. By the time we arrive at your site, we're installing a finished product - not raw lumber that still needs to be sanded and stained in place. The quality of the end result is visibly different from the first plank.

3D laser measurement on every project

We use a LiDAR scanner that captures thousands of measurement points to within an eighth of an inch. Once we've measured your site and agreed on scope, you get a precise, itemized quote - no ballpark, no change orders because we missed something on day one. For more complex projects, a detailed rendering is prepared after contract signing so we're building exactly what you approved.

Structure built to outlast the planks

We obsess over what's underneath - treated joists, proper spacing, LVL beams where the load demands it, butyl joist tape on every ledger, flashing integrated into your home's weather barrier. Planks get replaced eventually. The frame underneath should last fifty years. The most important part of a deck is what you can't see, and that's where most builders cut corners. We don't.

Free 12-month inspection - on every project, no exceptions

One year after we finish, we come back. We walk the deck top and bottom, inspect every element of the build, and take care of any warranty items on the spot. This isn't an upsell. It's built into every project because I want to know how our work is holding up - and because if something isn't right, I'd rather find it and fix it than wait for you to call.

Optional ongoing maintenance - the only program of its kind in the valley

We offer annual cleaning, sanding, and restaining for every wood deck we build. A maintained deck after five years looks essentially the same as the day it was finished. An unmaintained deck has been declining the whole time. Nobody else in Northwest Montana offers this. We do because we want to know our work is lasting - and because we want to keep earning your trust after the project is done.

How every project works

Same process.
Every time.
No exceptions.

From the first call to the one-year inspection, every project runs the same five steps. No surprises. No handoffs to people we don’t control. No cutting corners on the things that matter most – which are almost always the things you can’t see.

STEP ONE

Free site visit

We come to your property, listen to what you want, and walk the space – top and bottom. We’re looking at grade, existing structure, joist condition, flashing, spacing. We’ll point out what’s there, what needs attention, and what options you have. Before we suggest a single thing.

STEP TWO

3D measurement & laser scan

We use a LiDAR scanner to capture your site to within an eighth of an inch. It takes a few minutes. Once we have the measurements, we produce an accurate, itemized quote – not a ballpark.

STEP THREE

In-shop fabrication

Railings are laser-welded, primed, and painted in our shop. Wood is planed, dimensioned, and pre-stained. By the time material arrives on your site, it’s ready to install.

STEP FOUR

Installation

We handle everything from demo through finish – foundation, framing, decking, railing, concrete – with our own crew. One point of contact throughout. We protect your property, clean up after ourselves, and don’t disappear mid-project.

STEP FIVE

12-month inspection

One year after we finish, we come back. We inspect every element of the build, address any warranty items, and talk through your maintenance options. Standard on every project.

Free. No obligation. We come to you.

Why our railings are different

The only laser welder in Flathead Valley.

Most deck builders outsource their railings to a welding shop. That means a two-to-three month wait, no quality control, and a powder-coated product that looks great until it gets scratched – at which point the whole railing has to come off and go back to the shop. We cut and weld everything in-house. The laser focuses to a very fine point and punches all the way through the metal, creating a bond from the bottom up – a full-penetration weld, not a surface bead. The seam is nearly invisible, the joint is as strong as the base metal, and we can go from design to a finished railing in days rather than months. We coat with epoxy primer and paint, which means a scratch can be touched up in the field. Zero subcontractors. Zero compromise.

FEATURED PROJECT

WHITEFISH, MONTANA

A lakefront build that required precision at every stage – floating staircase, pre-finished cedar planks, stainless steel cable railing with custom steel posts and a black painted finish throughout. The client had high standards and was open to every design recommendation we brought. We had to get everything right. It’s the kind of project where if you miss something, you see it every time you look at it. We didn’t miss anything.

Materials & selection

Not all decking is the same.
We'll tell you the truth about each one.

We work in wood, composite, and PVC – and we’ll tell you which one is actually right for your property, your climate, and how you use the space. We’re not Trex certified, which means we’re not obligated to push any one product. We recommend what we’d put on our own house.

NATURAL WOOD

Cedar & Douglas Fir

Nothing feels like real wood. The maintenance concern is real – but it’s manageable if the deck is built right and the material is properly prepared before it goes down. We pre-finish every board in our shop: planed to a true dimension, sanded, stained on three sides with a penetrating stain that goes into the wood rather than sitting on top of it. That prep work is what separates a deck that still looks great in year eight from one that’s cupping and fading in year three. Most clients who come in thinking they want composite choose wood once they see what the difference actually looks like.

Pre-finished in shop

Composite

Trex, TimberTech & Azek

Low maintenance, long warranties, no annual staining. For the right property and the right client, composite is the right answer. The tradeoff is feel and appearance – it will never look or feel exactly like wood, and after a decade some products start to show their age. They also get very hot in direct sun, and thermal expansion in Montana’s temperature range needs to be managed carefully during installation. We’ll tell you which brands hold up here and which ones we won’t install.

25-50 year warranties available

PVC

Cellular PVC Decking

Fully waterproof and highly durable in the right conditions. The issue with PVC in Montana is thermal expansion – it moves significantly between summer heat and winter cold. Near a dark wall or under a grill, it can soften. We’ll tell you when it makes sense and when it doesn’t – and we won’t install it somewhere it’s going to cause problems in three years.

OUR STANDARD

We stand behind what we build.

Our standard isn’t minimum code compliance. It’s building something we’d be proud to put our name on in ten years. Every project includes a free 12-month inspection and the option to stay on a maintenance schedule – because I want to know how our work is holding up long after the invoice is paid. A lot of our clients are on the lake part of the year. They give us gate codes, garage codes, house codes. They trust us completely with their property while they’re away. I take that seriously. I treat every job like it’s my own home.

"He showed up the same day I called, had a rendering in my hands within the week, and was on site every single day until it was done. I've told every neighbor on the lake."

Free 12-month inspection

One year after we finish, we come back. We walk it top and bottom, inspect our workmanship, and handle any warranty items on the spot. Built into every project - not an add-on, not something you have to ask for.

Optional maintenance program

Annual cleaning, sanding, and restaining for every wood deck we build. A maintained deck after five years looks the same as the day it was done. An unmaintained deck has been declining the whole time. Nobody else in Northwest Montana offers this.

Structural integrity standard

Treated joists, proper spacing, LVL beams, butyl joist tape, full flashing at the ledger. We build the frame to outlast the planks. When you re-deck in twenty-five years, the structure underneath should look exactly as we left it.

One point of contact, start to finish

You deal with the person building your deck. Not an office, not a coordinator. I pick up when you call. I'm on site. I sign the warranty.
